Emile Davenport Hirsch is an American television and film actor, whose works include Wild Iris , The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys , The Emperors Club , The Girl Next Door , The Mudge Boy , Imaginary Heroes , Lords of Dogtown , Alpha Dog , Into the Wild , Milk , Speed Racer , Taking Woodstock , The Motel Life , Savages , Lone Survivor , Prince Avalanche , and the AampE networks simulcast miniseries Bonnie amp Clyde .

Hirsch, who is of GermanJewish, English, and ScotsIrish ancestry, was born in Palms, California. His mother, Margaret Esther , is a visual artist and teacher who designed popup books, and his father, David M. Hirsch, is an entrepreneur, manager, and producer. He has an older sister, Jenny, and was raised in Los Angeles, California, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he lived with his mother for several years.
